Student life in the Elementary School is challenging, fast-paced, and, the students tell me, fun.  Coupled with a rigorous International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program that stresses an inquiry-based program focusing on the understanding of concepts central to learning is a host of opportunities to learn outside of the classroom walls.  Many of our classroom Units of Inquiry are supported by opportunities for students to participate in excursions, to study local resources, and to help them clarify and understand the Central Question of their Inquiry Unit.  Elementary School believes that understanding locally is a precursor to understanding globally, one of our primary goals.  Authors and musicians from India and other parts of the world often visit ASB to extend the opportunities for our students to learn more about the Arts, about writing, and about the collective experience these valuable resources bring with them.

One of the most anticipated events in the Elementary School is monthly assemblies. Organized by our Fifth Grade Eagle Leaders, these assemblies give our students an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their learning to an audience of their peers and a large number of interested parents. 

Students in the Elementary School devote time, energy and resources to enhancing the lives of others.  The community-service program that each child is involved in offers a host of opportunities for our students to learn from, spend time helping, and share resources with those in our community who are less fortunate.
